You can dive on and explore the wreck of the Batavia, the famous Dutch Ship wrecked in 1629.
Lying in 4-6m of clear water, the outline of the hull, fully equipped with cannons and anchors, is a stark reminder of the gruesome tale
which occurred in an even more gruesome time in our history.
The Batavia story is well known in Australia because of the mutiny and murder of 125 men, women and children
and also because the survivors of this massacre then sailed in an open whale boat to Batavia, now Jakarta, in Indonesia.
Bird Watching More than ninety species of seabirds have been identified on and around the islands,
some of which are Crested Terns, Lesser Noddies and White Breasted Sea Eagles.
Diving. The islands is a pure diving pleasure. There is a range of diving options to choose from in each of the Island groups.
The Abrolhos can cater for everyone from the expert diver to the snorkeller. to those who have never done anything like it before
Tropical parrot butterfly fish and coral trout swim beside western rock lobsters, buff bream and bald chin gropers
and the Coral bombies and colourful staghorn corals provide a wonderful underwater maze for your diving pleasure.
Ecotours. Given that The Abrolhos Islands are a nature lover's paradise. You will be able to view a
whole plethora of birds soaring above you. In the water you can, snorkel through the coral gardens,
hand feed 30kg Samson fish and watch out for the dolphins surfing in your bow waves.
On land, the sea lions bask on the sandy shores
Fishing - If fishing is your passion, the Abrolhos supports many a magnificent catch waiting to become your next fishing story!
No need for TALL fishing tales when you fish here though.
Coral Trout, Dhufish and Blue Bone Groper, schools of Pink and Norwest Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Yellowtail Kingfish
are present in abundance and easily caught
and the Tuna provide just as much pleasure to catch as they do to eat!
In the crystal clear blue lagoons of the Abrolhos, the black-lipped oyster cultures one of nature's gems - the pearl.
But you will need to Check with the Fisheries Department for areas of the Abrolhos that open to fishing.
Surfing / Windsurfing The Abrolhos Islands also picks up both swell and wind and offers some awesome surf and
windsurfing conditions.
with swell lines wrapping left and right around the islands, quality surf is possible in almost any number of different of weather conditions.
Geraldton's famous sea breezes and the protected waters of the Abrolhos also provide outstanding conditions for speed sailing.
Camping is prohibited on the Abrolhos Islands
Visitors are required to sleep onboard their own vessel or charter boat.
