Cervantes is the southern gateway to Australia's Coral Coast Region

Cervantes which is just two and a half hours drive north of Perth, the town and it's surrounds boast, beautiful turquoise waters and pristine white beaches, an array of water sports and exotic marine life, there is also the fabulous farming scenery of the rolling hills, National Parks full of native flowers, trees and fauna, many historical buildings and a tasty array of seafood to sample.

It's an area just waiting for you to explore and the good news is there is an excellent network of sealed roads and four wheel drive trails to make this easy!

It is approximately 245 kilometres north of Perth and is on the very doorstep of the magical Pinnacles, an area you don't want to miss.

It's a quiet laid - back fishing village. In short, it's a great family getaway, just perfect for kicking back, forgetting your troubles and relaxing.

Visit the world famous Pinnacles

  • Take in stunning views from lookouts at Hansen Bay

  • Stunning Views of the Ocean and natural environment are offered at many lookouts at Hansen Bay, 1 km south of town is a must for all visitors.

    It provides a magic view of Hansen Bay, the islands, lake Thetis and the town site.

    Some activities to indulge in

  • Drop a line in off the jetties

  • If you love to fish, you'll love Cervantes. Hangover Bay and Kangaroo Point are renowned for the abundant fish to be caught from a boat, off the beach or from the jetty. No trip to this lovely town is complete without a stroll past the jetties.

    This is a particularly exciting attraction during the Rock Lobster fishing season (mid November to end of June). The town thrives on the multi-million dollar rock lobster industry.

    Visitors can enjoy the incredible marine life found in the waters off the coast and have the opportunity to interact with sea lions, enjoy swimming, snorkeling, fishing and exploring the offshore reefs and islands in the area.

  • Marvel at the massive turbines of the Wind Farm
  • You should Check out the Emu Downs Wind Farm. This newly completed wind farm provides a fantastic spectacle with its 48 massive turbines extending almost 120m in the air when the blades are at their highest point. View the turbines from the car park on Bibby Road just 30km east of town.

    For different views again, scale the Molar Hill Lookout. Situated half way between Cervantes and Jurien Bay, Molar Hill Lookout provides sweeping views of the ocean, the town and Jurien Bay.

    While you are there pay a visit lake Thetis and the stromatolites. This site is within walking distance at just 2 kms south east of town and is one of only five places in Western Australia which feature Stromatolites.

    These natural features grow in the lake and are made up of the oldest known organisms on earth. Some fossil remains have been dated as old as 3.6 billion years! The lake itself was named after the sailing ship Thetis which surveyed the coast between 1847 and 1848.
