John Forrest Park, an adventure for the whole family

John Forrest is just 35 miutes from Perth.

Today's 1 day short getaway was to the John Forrest Park near Perth.
And boy! did we discover something special for you.

John Forrest park is the ideal short getaway and is set in a natural wonder land of
tall trees, babbling brooks, exotic birds and animals that you can see
and enjoy on a lovely walking track that meanders throughout
this wonderful park.

And I love this place it is just so relaxed and laid back.

The walking track that we were on followed a meandering creek
complete with Mother duck and her 4 little ones. (ducklings)

The John Forrest park is about 20 miles n/east of Perth and
takes about half an hour to drive the distance along the
Great Eastern Highway from Perth.

The park features some delightful walks amongst the west aussie bush.
All along the walks you will see a large variety of natural rock
formations, forrests full of lovely trees and the lower vegitations
is a continuing source of splendor and wonder that is a pleasure
to walk amidst and see.

As we wondered along the pathway running along side the delightful
brook I was accompanied by Jojo my lovely assistant,
my daughter Kobie and our two friends Nev and Skeeta.

The creek which runs beside the path we followed is crossed by an old railway bridge that was built over 110 years ago. The old railway bridge is now used by walkers and cyclists. Today a cycle party were using this track and I spoke to several of these folks, and I was impressed by there obvious enjoyment of their experiences.

They were full of comments about the rock formations and
forest scenery that they had seen as they rode along the bike path.

Jojo, the wonder girl resting as usual.

After a few hours of walking along the track the time
was about midday and it was time for lunch.

We wandered of to the John Forrest tavern where we were met
by Tom the delightful owner of this marvelous tavern,

inside there was a very nice crowd of people, both local and
fellow trippers from several different parts of the world.

One was a lady from Sweden and her partner was a Frenchman and
you would be hard put to find a more affable couple.

Also there was a guy from Ireland and another from South Africa.
This group made us feel at home and we really enjoyed ourselves
and their company and chatter.

The John Forrest National Park tavern features an extensive range
of excellently cooked and presented food.

Our party consumed and enjoyed a steak with all the trimmings,
two sea food platters with a full variety of succulent sea foods
and two baskets of wedges and potato chips.

The John Forrest Tavan's excellent menu.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the outdoor dining area and
while we eating and enjoying ourselves and of course the obligatory
few beers, we met some other new friends but not the
human variety this time.
We met kangaroos, parrots, wild ducks, water fowl and the odd Galah and cockatoo as well.

You can hand feed all of these friendly creatures and the
tavern owner Tom will tell you what you can and can not feed
these animals. They are wild animals so they need to be protected
and keep from harm by all of us.

Please follow Tom's directions and everybody, including the animals
will thoroughly enjoy each others company.
