Kalgoorlie is located 590km east of Perth . Kalgoorlie-Boulder is the mining and gold capital of Australia. The discovery of gold by Paddy Hannan in 1893 led to one of Australia's and indeed one of the world's great gold rushes when people from all over Australia and from almost every country across the world made their way here as quickly as possible after the discovery of gold hoping to make a killing and become rich.

During the wildflower season, it is a beautiful drive from Perth through a countryside of purples, oranges, yellows, blues and reds.

There is an average of 63 rainy days for the year, with the days being usually clear and warm, with cool nights. The huge KCGM Super Pit stretches along the eastern side of the twin City, and points north toward the Australian Prospectors and Miners Hall of Fame - which is a showcase of the mining industry in the area.
