The Kimberley. Where you can enjoy all the adventure travel that you can take or just have a relaxed holiday in what is a very real paradise on earth.
The North West area is a vast extravaganza filled with some of the most compelling scenery and wildlife, that unless seen, will defy the imagination in it's enormous scope and wilderness beauty, a beauty rarely seen in this day and age of greedy governments and corporations ripping everything out of the ground and despoiling the natural, beautiful areas of Western Australia.
You could for instance, fit England, Wales, Scotland, Texas and Malaysia into the region and still have room to spare.
The Kimberley has two main areas, West and East Kimberley
From Broome in the west and south to Kununurra and Wyndham in the east and north you will experience some wonderful Kimberley adventures and see plenty of mind numbing scenery both on land and on the sea.
A great thing about this place is that it is equally suitable for Mums and Dads with their kids as it is for the adventure traveler or anglers hoping to catch a big Barramundi or a sailfish of the coastline.
As I Wander around here in this, the most amazing place that I have ever seen and pause, to think about all this splendor here in the North West.
There is a magnificent fascinating road called the
Gibb River Road
which is a dirt road or track running between Kununurra and town of Derby near Broome.
The road is only open in the dry season as floods cut it during the wet season and it is impassible. It is considered to be a 4WD road only but 2WD's have been known to make it over the entire distance, but it is not advisable to use this method.
There are many wonderful gorges, waterfalls and scenic aspects to see along it's entire length.
I realize just how lucky I am to be here now, and now you too can explore the rocky red gorges, fish in the beautiful rivers, wander though the forests and meet the friendly people of our north west region in both the "Wet" season and the "Dry".
A Beautiful Kimberley Sunset
And you should see the pockets of tropical rain forest, of which there are plenty, and they are incredibly beautiful, a paradise on earth.

There is a hazard that you should be aware of, and that is that when driving at either dawn or at sunset these guys are around and they are likely to cross the road unexpectedly at any moment.
Not only the kangaroos but also cattle, horses, buffalo and emus are around in numbers at that time. I assume that you would rather that, you and your family and car arrived safely at your destinations instead of becoming a wreck and injured or worse on the side of the road.
So what can you do to avoid this happening to you?
It's quite simple really, slow down to about 50kms an hour at dawn and dusk. Do try not to drive in the darker hours and if you must, keep alert and your eyes peeled and stay SAFE
You will come across many of these as you journey throughout the Australian outback and they are not put up for fun, they are an official road hazard sign so please take note and apply the correct driving principle and arrive happy and healthy at your destination, I beg of you.
