The naming of Bungle Bungle

by Malcom
(Halls Creek Western Australia)

My wife's father was working at bungle bungle out camp in the 1940s. I asked him where the name had come from. He told me that a previous occupant of the out camp, a chap called Muggelton tried to mine salt in the are. It was a failure a bungled attempt. Also the out camp was hard to find this led to another calling it a bungle. Muggelton said well that's two bungles so I will call the place bungle bungle.
